WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO RENT EQUIPMENT?

For all rentals we will need you to make sure there is at least one person over 18 with a valid credit card (we accept Visa, Master and Discover cards but no pre-paid credit cards for deposits) and a valid driver’s license. We do keep a copy of the credit card on file until the equipment is returned. You do not have to pay with the credit card but it needs to be available. Also, all people under 18 must have their parent/guardian with them to sign their rental form.

CAN I CALL OR FAX IN A RESERVATION?

Yes. Our phone number is 970-668-3748; fax number 970-668-8986. We do require a $10 deposit for each renter to accompany the reservation. This deposit is non-refundable if the reservation is cancelled.

WHAT IF I RETURN MY EQUIPMENT EARLY?

We do not issue refunds for equipment returned early. Therefore, we ask that at the time of rental you only pay for the time you know you will need the equipment. If you end up using the equipment longer we will settle-up when you return and, if applicable, we will even pro-rate the amount you owe.

WHAT IF MY EQUIPMENT IS LOST, STOLEN OR DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR?

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR RENTAL EQUIPMENT. If it is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, you will be charged the full replacement cost. Contact Ski Patrol or Guest Services at the resort you are at and ask for assistance in locating your equipment if it is lost.

WINTER SEASON

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO PURCHASE LIFT TICKETS?

King Soopers is a large grocery store chain that sells discounted tickets. Phone numbers are: 303-238-6486 for Denver or 970-468-2363 for Dillon. For more information please visit www.kingsoopers.com. All the resorts may have lift ticket deals so check their websites early and often. We have listed links at the top of the banner for you to click through to each resort close to our store.

WHAT DO I NEED WITH ME TO PICK UP MY WINTER EQUIPMENT?

Please, wear or bring the socks you plan on wearing when you are skiing/ snowboarding so we can provide you with a correct fit with your boots. We recommend only one good ski/board sock made for the sport or a good quality wool sock. As a reminder we will need a valid Visa, Master or Discover credit card that we can take an imprint of as a security deposit on the equipment, along with a valid I.D. Lastly, please, bring your enthusiasm for outdoor activities.

CAN I RENT JUST BOOTS TO GO WITH MY OWN SKIS?

Yes. You must sign a waiver that HRC is not responsible for your binding’s performance. Remember, if your skis are a little older we have the most current and up to date technology available at competitive prices!

DO YOU RENT CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES?

We do not rent clothing. However, there are several discount super stores in Summit County that can out fit you.

CAN WE PICK-UP OUR EQUIPMENT THE NIGHT BEFORE WE ARE SKIING/SNOWBOARDING?

Yes, you may pick up your equipment any time after 2pm the day before and not be charged for that day.

DO YOU SELL SKIS AND SNOWBOARDS?

At the end of the season we will sell some skis and snowboards. Generally around mid-April we will have some great deals on our equipment. You can either: stop-by and talk to Beth, call us 970-668-3748, e-mail us from this website or view what we have in our eBay store from the home page on this website. Most seasons we also have a rack of equipment for sale on the floor and occasionally we may have retail (new) equipment for sale so please stop by High Trial 1121 Dillon Dam Road.

CAN WE TAKE A DAY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RENTAL?

High Trail’s policy is that as long as the rental equipment is out you will be charged for it. If you would like to take a day off you may return the equipment or simply pay for the extra days use.

DO YOU HAVE SNOWBLADES?

Yes, we do rent snowblades. Snowblades are a much smaller version of a ski. They are easier to maneuver at slower speeds, however at higher speeds they are not nearly as stable. Our snowblades do not release and you must wear the run-away straps on them.

DO YOU HAVE SHAPED SKIS?

Every ski that High Trail rents is a shaped ski. A shaped ski is one that is wider at the tip and tail than under the boot, similar to an hourglass shape. This design makes skiing much easier to learn and has less wear and tear on the body.

DO YOU RENT TELEMARK GEAR?

We do NOT rent telemark gear. Wilderness Sports, here in Frisco, has telemark skis and boots available for rental. They can be reached at 970-668-8804.

DO YOU PROVIDE CAR RACKS TO CARRY OUR EQUIPMENT?

No, we do not provide racks for you car. If you are renting a car some car rentals places can provide one if you request it ahead of time.

SUMMER SEASON

WHAT TYPE OF BIKE SHOULD WE RENT?

The style of bike you ride is entirely up to you. We offer road bike and hybrid bikes. When we talk about road bikes we mean a bike with the drop-bars, thin tires, with aggressive geometry (think Tour de France). We do recommend that you bring your own pedals and shoes if you would like the best fit possible for your clip-less system. Please also feel free to bring any/or all of your kit (helmet, water bottles, saddle bag, etc.) Our hybrid bikes put the rider in an up right position, with larger tires and platform pedals. The hybrid is a great option of riders who will be traveling around our bike paths. We do NOT rent mountain bikes. Please visit our good friends at Mountain View Sports in Keystone for all your mountain biking needs: www.mountainviwesports.com or 970-468-0396. MVS also provides our Ride the Pass shuttle service so you can click through to their site on our summer rentals page.

WHAT SHOULD WE BRING ON A BIKE RIDE OR “RIDE THE PASS?”

The weather changes very quickly in the high country and you should be prepared for all types of weather conditions. Please check the weather before you arrive for the most up to date conditions—at the bottom of our locations page you can click through to the Colorado Department of Transportation’s website to see current weather conditions. A light rain jacket and some layers are always a good idea. Also bring a backpack to carry a jacket along with camera, lunch, hats, water and sunscreen. Locks are provided upon request for the equipment if you’ll be stopping for lunch or a hike. Sunglasses are a must even on cloudy days.
